Project Summary
Breaking Barriers: Youth-Led Initiatives for Gender Equality is a transformative project aimed at empowering young people, particularly in rural areas, to actively engage in local politics and decision-making processes that directly impact their lives. By fostering critical thinking, leadership, and advocacy skills, the initiative seeks to inspire youth to challenge existing power structures, voice their opinions confidently, and take an active role in shaping policies that affect their communities.
Breaking Barriers: Youth-Led Initiatives for Gender Equality The project equips participants with essential skills in persuasive communication, bargaining, and strategic leadership—competencies that will benefit them socially, professionally, and politically. Through a diverse range of activities, including youth workshops, Council of Europe simulations, gender equality advocacy initiatives, inclusive campaigns, and open dialogues on policy reforms, Breaking Barriers provides young change-makers with hands-on experience in crafting policies and driving social progress.
The project’s impact extends beyond individual growth, strengthening youth collaboration with local authorities and enhancing their understanding of EU Youth Goals #9 (Space and Participation for All) and #10 (Sustainable Green Europe) within the EU Youth Strategy 2019–2027 framework. By fostering a culture of youth involvement in democratic processes and social activism, Breaking Barriers empowers a new generation of leaders to build a more inclusive, equitable, and participatory society.
