Project Summary
The MASTERY project aims to address the pressing need for youth workers and the young people they support to develop their emotional intelligence (EQ), especially for those who are having difficulties in social, professional, and academic contexts. The project is in line with the 2019–2027 European Union Youth Strategy, which places a strong emphasis on empowering, involving, and connecting youth. Mastery aims to improve the social and emotional intelligence of youth workers and the youth they serve, particularly the underachievers, early school leavers, and NEETs (not in education, employment, or training).
The project’s objectives are to guarantee young people’s equal participation in democratic life and to advance the caliber of youth work and non-formal and informal learning environments. The five main EQ topics that make up MASTERY are relationships, social awareness, selfmanagement, self-awareness, and social awareness.
The project aims to increase youth workers’ awareness of the impact of emotions, provide training methods to improve social skills and emotional intelligence, and upskill youth workers in EQ through a Professional Development Activity (PDA) involving thirty youth workers. Researching the best ways to improve EQ, designing a coaching curriculum, training youth workers, and planning a mobility activity in Greece are all part of the project’s activities.
To improve their EQ, participants will take part in a variety of non-formal learning activities, including workshops, role-play scenarios, individual and group reflection, and case studies.
