Project Summary

The STEP project is a comprehensive initiative that aims to increase youth participation and engagement in social and democratic life throughout Europe. It is intended to address the different issues and obstacles that have prevented young people from participating in political processes and decision-making. The project’s goals are to empower youth, improve youth policy knowledge in Europe, and encourage youth involvement in policymaking.

Basically, STEP aims to strengthen the ability of those involved in the youth field—policymakers, researchers, practitioners of youth work, and youth representatives—to create and carry out successful youth policies. By utilizing the frameworks of the Council of Europe’s Agenda 2020 and the European Union’s youth strategy, STEP seeks to close the knowledge gap between youth policy development theory and practice. Among the project’s many activities are youth participation events and mobilizations that take place across Europe.

These gatherings give young leaders a chance to interact with decision-makers, talk about the opportunities and problems associated with youth participation, and come up with ideas for improving youth engagement in politics. The project also aims to address discriminatory issues and encourage meaningful participation in democratic processes by facilitating discussions on fair and equal representation of youth.

STEP hopes to accomplish a number of significant goals with these activities, such as empowering youth to voice their opinions clearly, promoting critical thinking abilities, and encouraging youth involvement in local politics.

In addition, the project seeks to enhance youth leadership and communication skills, create a conduit for communication between youth and decision-makers, and educate young people about local youth policies.
