UNITY OF MUNICIPALITIES FOR VOLUNTEERING UNDER THE VOLUNTEERING VALUES THINK TANK PROJECT – VEROIA STARRING IN A SOCIAL EVENT

The project “Volunteering Values Think Tank VOLT ” carried out in the framework of the “Town Twining CERV 2022 CITIZENS TOWN TT”, was dynamically completed, with the three-day meeting in Veroia, Greece to emerge as a decisive chapter of its successful course.

The action, which was coordinated by the non-governmental organisation “European Centre for Social Sciences of Culture and Sport” based in Veria, had as its main theme the promotion of the values of volunteering in the local community. Its aim was to strengthen the municipality’s cooperation with four municipal partners from neighbouring European countries, including the:

  • Municipal Council of Birgou in Malta
  • the Municipal Council of Belitsa in Bulgaria
  • the non-governmental organisation “Association for Developing Voluntary Work Novo mesto” from Novo Mesto in Slovenia
  • the Municipal Council of Općina Kalnik in Croatia.

Fostering International Collaboration Through Volunteerism

The event in Veroia marked a vibrant celebration of cross-border cooperation through the Volunteering Values Think Tank (VOLT) project. The event culminated in a special ceremony at the town hall, where each partner received recognition for their invaluable contributions, symbolizing the spirit of unity and collaboration that defined the project.

At the end of the successful project, the representatives of the participating partners visited the town hall of Veria, where they presented the VOLT project and discussed its objectives with the mayor Konstantinos Voriazidis. Each municipality was honored with a special plaque representing their invaluable participation in VOLT. This symbolic gesture reflects the successful collaboration and the importance of working together to create sustainable social change.
